מצבי קיצון’- הביאנאלה לנייר, מוזיאון ארץ ישראל (2017 אוצרת: ענת גטניו)’

מופע קסום של אנימציה תלת ממדית על גבי גלגל מסתובב מבוסס  על עקרון  הזואיטרופ ( מכשיר עגול המסתובב ויוצר אשליה של תנועה באמצעות העברה מהירה של תמונות נייחות). כאן הגלגל בנוי לגובה (כגלגל ענק בלונה פארק), נושא משטחים ריבועיים ועליהם צורות מנייר לבן בעלי מראה אורגני המדמות צמחייה . הבזקיי תאורה יוצרים אשליה של תנועה מלאה והמשכית של צמיחה המתמלאת וחסרה, מופיעה ונעלמת.

העיסוק בטבע, בצמיחה ובקמילה מהדהד גם בעבודותיה הקודמות של הופמן. הכשרתה כמעצבת גרפית ומאיירת הורחבה לרישום בחלל באמצעי ביטוי שונים, והוא מקבל תפניות מפתיעות בכל פעם מחדש.

The magical 3D animation show on a rotating wheel is based on the zoetrope (a round rotating device creates an illusion of movement by displaying drawings or photographs in fast progressive phases). Here, the wheel is built upwards (like the large Ferris wheels in amusement parks). It carries square shaped surfaces, which in turn hold white objects with an organic appearance that simulates flora. Flashes of lighting create the illusion of a complete and continuous movement of flora filling and the emptying, appearing and disappearing.

The fascination with nature, vegetation, growth, and decay, is also echoed in Hoffman’s previous works. Her training as a graphic designer and illustrator was expended to drawing in space in different means, and receives surprising twists each time anew .
