The obvious crisis of everything

July 2020 MFA Bezalel academy for art and design

A sculptural installation dealing with the relationship between time and matter in the context of family, motherhood and home versus aspirations and reality, in a world of neoliberal economics, in which a person’s value is determined by his work in a market of supply and demand.

the piece was created by a multitude of repetitive actions, using cheap available materials from around household, resulting in an object that is a space of tiny occurrences.   An object that consists of many moments, and offers many different views, a work that owes its  existence to a considerable investment of time, which in turn asks the viewer to linger. The work offers the viewer a barter in the attention- economies, result of the understanding that in a consumer society time is the only resource of those who don’t have.

The work reflects the tension and helplessness imposed on us during the corona-era quarantine, when the house became the main site for all walks of life, appearing to be active and paralyzed at once.

Materials: liqueur bottles, garbage bags, IKEA food storage containers, slippers, clothing, laundry rack, floor cloths, wires, sheets, wood, aquarium pumps, lighting, electric cables, plastic.
